The Dolores Huerta Student Council serves to build morale and a positive school atmosphere and culture through engagement with staff and service to the students. In addition to planning assemblies, dances, and spirit weeks, our members also help to share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals through weekly leadership meetings with administrators. We help fundraise for the school through various activities, including managing the school store and concession stand. We plan, fund, set up, and participate in many different school events from prom to parades. We are also proud to organize and sponsor opportunities for our students to gain service learning hours through relationships with local partners such as the SRDA and Pueblo Department of Health and Environment.
Our council consists of students interested in helping out and having fun. Many are part-time members who attend meetings and help with events as often as they can. However, it is the elected representatives from each grade level that attend the weekly leadership meetings and help communication between students and their administrators.
